What is Google bowling?

Google bowling is the black hat technique of inflicting competing sites with signals that will get them penalised and removed from the search results.

The favourite method of Google bowlers is to point hundreds of poor quality links from dubious, low-ranking sites to competitors web pages. This technique afflicts newer sites more commonly as established sites will already have a reputable link structure that is more difficult to destroy.

Fixing a site that has been Google bowled

To avoid this happening to your site, keep an eye on the backlink profile and if necessary use the disavow tool in Google Search Console to get rid of any malicious links.
