What is organic traffic?

Organic traffic is made up of users that come to your website from unpaid search results - or organic search results. A key goal of most SEO strategies, especially for new websites, is to increase organic traffic.

The term 'organic traffic' is also often used to cover all traffic that comes from unpaid sources – such as from organic social campaigns or from referrals from a link on another website – however, most analytics programmes will refer to organic traffic as coming only from unpaid search results and will categorise social organic and referral traffic separately.
